We are a fencing company for homes in Maidenhead and the villages around it, including Cookham, Cookham Dean, Taplow, Holyport, Furze Platt and Pinkneys Green, and we install, repair and remove fencing of every kind. Our base in Datchet is about seven miles away, so Maidenhead is close to home for us. Whether you want a new fence along the back of the garden or one leaning panel put right, we will look at the job and give you a clear quotation.
Around the town centre and Boyn Hill, many homes are Victorian or Edwardian, with long, narrow back gardens and boundaries that have been patched up over many years. A mix of old panels, concrete posts and timber posts is common, and it is often better value to replace a whole run than to patch it again. On newer estates the fences tend to be younger, and fixing a few posts or panels is often all that is needed.
Maidenhead sits on the Thames, and gardens close to the river, from Boulters Lock down towards Bray, can stay wet for long periods in winter. Timber posts standing in wet ground rot faster at the base, which is why a fence near the river can lean long before the panels look worn. When we replace posts in wet ground, we take care over how they are set so water drains away from the timber.
A snapped post or a panel blown out in a storm does not always mean a new fence. We check the posts on either side, replace what has failed, and leave the sound parts of the fence where they are. If the whole line is close to the end of its life, we will say so, and you can choose between a repair now and a full replacement.
Parts of Maidenhead and Cookham sit in conservation areas, and listed buildings have their own rules, so a new front fence may need the council’s agreement before it goes up. For most back gardens, a fence up to 2 metres high does not need planning permission. The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead planning team can confirm what applies to your home.
Our fencing work in Maidenhead covers:
When a fence has gone too far, we take down the old panels and posts and clear the line ready for the new fence. We can also remove an old or unsafe fence on its own, for example when part of a garden is being opened up. You can read more about our fencing services on our main fencing page.
Alongside Maidenhead itself, we work in Cookham, Cookham Dean, Taplow, Holyport, Furze Platt and Pinkneys Green, and further afield in Bracknell and Wokingham. Our Maidenhead page covers everything else we do in the town, and our gardeners in Maidenhead look after lawns, hedges and borders. Closer to our base, we also offer fencing in Windsor and work as fencing contractors in Slough.
A: It depends on the posts. If they are firm, replacing broken panels is good value. If several posts are soft at ground level, the fence will keep moving, and a new fence usually works out better over time. We will show you what we find.
A: Yes. Taking down the old panels and posts is part of a fence replacement, and we leave the line clear for the new fence.
